sub-titles should better be in English or in the language you are trying to learn ?

Erm..actually in english / that own language it really depends how well u actually can read chinese. If u r good at chinese reading than it works for u. But for beginners u should try english sub first coz from there u learn how to pronounce some words.

the problem of subtitles

Just to add my 5c worth. I'm learning Putonghua & love watching movies in Mandarin. This has improved my ear for the language considerably. However I've noticed 2 things - actors pronounce their words much more slowly & clearly than the average speaker - good if you're learning bad if you're trying to follow anyone else. Also subtitles are not a good translation of the Mandarin - at least not if you rely on it to learn new vocabulary.

that is the reason that most of them can not write a decent paragraph, even using their own language
