| | | Dim sum for one? If I must get my dim sum fix and can't wait to gather a group of people to sit around a table, where can I go to eat good dim sum all by myself? Something like a kaitenzushi (revolving belt sushi) concept would be a long shot, but I'm thinking a nice small cafe-like atmosphere more welcoming to singles eating alone. But with good dim sum (as I'm all there for the food). Too much to ask? | |

| | | well, there is a restaurant near me that does Dim Sum take out, I am sure this is not limited to Tai Po. Surely can't be the only place here that does it? | |

| | | Maybe you should go to those tend-to-be-more-expensive restaurants such as Lei Garden, Four Seasons, etc where you can order dim sum by pieces. | |

| | Thanks all.
Pekkerhead: would appreciate the name of the stall next time you come across it. Sounds promising. Thanks!
newbigland: good to know you can order by piece in these places.
shafin: not so keen on sitting in these big restaurants all by myself, that's why I asked about a friendlier atmosphere for single eaters.

The stall is normally outside in the morning, then when it goes inside you can normally buy fresh dim sum from the baskets by the downstairs counter. It's pretty good. You can always take it up to the 2nd floor garden in the Tai Po complex if you wanted to sit and eat it.
Easiest way to Tai Po is to Catch the 26 green mini bus from Ma On Shan Bayshore Towers. The trip is very quick (about 20 mins) and you can get off on Kwong Fuk Road, just around the corner from Heung Sze Wuih street.

| | | Hong Kong Park Tea Museum's Cafe. Nice atmosphere, nice dim sum, but not very cheap. I went there with my daughter when she was just a baby. She slept in the stroller and I read and ate. | |

| | | Luk Yu Teahouse on Stanley St, Central. A Hong Kong institution. Dim sum varieties will be a little different from the generic chain offerings. It's all old-school stuff, so you might find chicken buns and pork liver siu mai instead of cha siu buns and lean pork siu mai etc. You should feel fine dining alone there - best if they can give you a seat on the left hand side downstairs (more privacy). |
