| | | Moving to HK- where to live? Hi-
I'm moving to HK from Boston in about 6 weeks... need some advice on places to live. I'm single, so want to make sure that there's things to do at night & on weekends (relatively) nearby. Any suggestions? Where do other expats live?

| | They live all over town. There are a few expat ghettos (if you can call them that...) like Discovery Bay or South Island.
The normal recommendation is to spend a week or two or three in a serviced apartment and look around for yourself. http://www.geoexpat.com/resources/Ho...ents/index.php

| | | Discovery Bay and South Island are more family areas. Would recommend Mid-Levels and Happy Valley. | |

| | | We recently moved to HK from Tokyo, we spent a month in a service apartment and looked for a place that we like, I suggest doing the same thing. because you can get good deals, and there is lots of places to choose from, also apartments require 1 year or 2 year contracts, so you will be stuck if you dont choose the right place. | |

| | | minor clarification: only the 1st year is usually locked in, you can usually negotiate a 1 month notice period during the 2nd yr of your lease. | |

| | | Stanley Stanley is a good place to live, u can go to the beach for swimming and suntan, there are some bars and good restaurants along the Stanley Street so u can hang around at nite. There are around 70% of westerners living here, so u can feel like at home. | |

Read your thread. I'm moving to HK this coming August. I'm also looking for an apartment, but I work in Causeway Bay, so I'm not sure if we can find a location that is convenient for the both of us. I'm Asian-American, female, in my mid 20s (feels so funny to say things this way ) and certaily up for grabing a drink etc.
Hope all is well, | |

| | | To Qeuccy,
We live in Causeway Bay, there is a flat in our building that is being renovated, so they are tearing it down and making it new, i heard that it will be available at the end of July. Send me a private mail, I can give you the landlords number, directly to negotiation, it is a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom apartment. no sea view,
