Anyone taken the train to Shanghai?

I come to the far east each year for a holiday and this time chosen Shanghai (due to pricing error advertised on flyertalk.com). Anyhow I am tempted to fly to Hong Kong and then take a train to Shanghai in order to have a look at the interior of China.

I'm sure I won't see a massive amount as the train thunders through the countryside and perhaps 25 hours on train isn't exactly bliss but you can book a deluxe soft sleeper class with your own room and toilet for under $1000 per person.

Has anyone on here done this trip and just wondering if they have any tips?
