PAL to NTSC

Hi Everyone,

I was wondering if anyone knows of any specific brands and model of DVD player/ DVD recorder or any componenet or even device that can convert a PAL input signal to a NTSC output signal?

I have a a NTSC Plasma TV and would like to start using my subcription of NowTV.

Thanks!

The NOW tv decoder outputs its signal via standard component cables coloured white, red and yellow. They don't use broadcast systems like PAL or NTSC. Just plug the NOW box to your tv using these three RCA cables and select Line or Video input on your tv.

PAL and NTSC are the video format, nothing to do with the broadcast method - DVDs etc come in both formats, and the NOW box video output will certainly be PAL.

after_e1even, there may be a slight chance the NOW decoder can output NTSC. May be worth asking. Are you sure your TV doesn't support both? Most modern ones seem to.

There are boxes that will do the conversion for you. Try a search on ebay or go for a wander round Wan Chai computer centre or similar. Just remember that the conversion quality needs to be good if you're watching on a large TV - don't trust a demo on a 10in monitor! On the other hand, NOW quality is pretty poor to begin with....

Actually they are both a video format and a broadcast standard

Unfortunately, my high end plasma was purchased overseas and I couldn't bare to part with it when I transferred here...so I know it is only NTSC. There are International models that do both PAL and NTSC but, at the particular time I purchased it I didn't know I would be moving to HK.
