Talking Travelling to the states

Hey all,

Im going to the states for my half-month vacation on 17th Dec. I will stay in the west coast. My plan is to go to Yosemite and then drive to Napa Valley. After that go to SF to meet some friends and go down to San diego and the last stop will be LV and the fly bk to hk.

Could anyone suggest any must-see or must-eat things/food there? And how much should I expect to spend on food for two persons for 15days?

very excited now thanks

Do the drop at the top of one of the Vegas hotels. I couldn't be more vague I know. It is well known just ask. You pay at the lobby and queue for the lift to the roof. There you will find a roller coaster and the drop (or shot) where you sit in a harness that is lifted slowly up then dropped. Best done at night!

The following are the must sees in California:

1. Red wood forest in Sequoia National Park.
2. Take highway 1 (pacific coast highway) from SF to San Diego, you'll see some of the most scenic areas in California.
3. In SF, take the cable car to visit China Town, there you'll feel like you are in HK again.
4. San Diego Zoo and Sea World, and La Jolla Beach
5. If you are going to LV, go during the week days, the hotels are much
cheaper.

Here are just some the places that I enjoyed and bon voyage!

We spent a week in SF and barely had the time to do SF, redwood forests and Napa Valley. It will be hard, I think, to do a lot in any one spot.
Calistoga, just north of Napa Valley, has nice spas and mud baths. Also there is a geyser in that area which is nice to visit. If you like Peanuts (the cartoon by Schultz), the Snoopy Museum is in the area.
In SF, get up early on a weekend (or anytime when traffic is light)and drive down Lombard Street.
Are you doing Napa for the wineries or the scenery?

Hey Woodpecker, thx for the suggestion
We will do no. 2, no.3, no.4

for no.1, is it better to go Sequoia national park instead of the yosemite national park?

for no. 5, we will stay there on the new year eve...my bf said vegas will become very very wild and crazy on the new year eve but the hotel is very expensive

In SF, take the cable car from Powell Street all the way down to visit China Town(good Chinese food) and Fishermanswarf (good sea food). If you have enough time don't miss Japan Town(good Japanese food) in SF.
You have to visit the biggest Macy Dept Store and lots of branded shops near union square the cable car station, don't miss them.

As for LV, yeh is very very wild and crazy there, u can walk along the street with your bare feet holding a cup of wine, chill out the whole night till dawn you better get enough sleep before you get there. Is so wild, free and romantic there that u will easily feel in love with someone.......that's why so many couple get marry in LV.
There are more then hundred hotels in LV and each of them will have their own hightlight, remember to get the directory of the hotels and keep your eyes open....
The best way is to get a bus pass so that you can get on/off anytime you like for the whole night. The hotel got good buffet with decent price so need to check it out.
Anyway take your time enjoy it and have a nice trip

i lived in sf for 10 years. skip macy's shopping bs. go to sonoma instead of napa. less tourists, more family run, scenic and chill. check out the new deyoung museum and moma. mission burritos/mexican food is a must. tasty cheap taiwanese veggie food at shangrila in the inner sunset. a walk in he golden gate park on a saturday to the ocean. along the coast with views of the headlands and the bridge. a hike in marin county. two or three days snowboarding at northstar in tahoe. check out the upper and lower haight. good breakfast at all you knead, the oldest restaurant in the upper haight. coffee at the horseshoe cafe in the lower haight or any number of other chill independent coffee shops. yosemite is at it's best this time of year. overrun with tourists but worth it this time of year. stay at the yosemite bug youth hostel at a pleasant cabin, right near yosemite. they rent snow shoes which are great if it's snowing. check out some music shows. thee parkside, bottom of the hill, the historic warfield or fillmore. the free guardian weekly has info on entertainment options. sequoia's cool but far. don't drive too much or too far. food is tasty and cheap if look for the right places. mexi burritos are amazing for 3 or 4 bucks.

I dont know how to ski so i wanted to skip tahoe and replace it with yosemite. right choice?

i got another question: where can i buy the ticket for the show in vegas? but hey, everything is mega expensive there! my bf wants to watch the beatles love, it costs like $155/seat. He saw "O" already but he said it was a good show. So which one will be more worth to see? I want to book the ticket now as I am kinda afraid everything will be sold out around new year eve.is ticketmaster.com reliable?

thanks u guys,
