Ipo

I am advised by HSBC that US Citizens cannot participate in
IPOs issued by Mainland China and Hong Kong companies.
Does anyone have any further information in this regard?

HSBC (and most of the other major banks here) decline investment business (including IPOs) from US Citizens because the reporting requirements imposed by the US Government are sufficiently onerous that it would cost them more to comply than any benefit they would get from your business.
