Didn't buy one, but there were at least a few for sale in SSP on Wednesday for stupid amounts - $4600 or so for the 20GB, $6800 for the 60GB.

I want an official HK item (@3800HKD) not a rip off grey import.
I'd like it to play HK region Blu-Ray movies. A PS3 that play only Japanese movies is not attractive to me

Can someone confirm the ones in HK are actually different in tech-spec (such as DVD and Blu-Ray region) from the ones sold in Japan?

Thanks

Will have mine in 2-3 weeks
Might sell it to a friend as the current game lineup looks crappy.

Ps3

I'm glad I finally got rid of it. I paid too much and it definietly was not worth the money. I'll wait until it gets to around $3500HKD for the 60GB version.

I know the first batch of games aren't representative of it's potential but I figured Resistance would make it shine. It's a fine looking game but doesn't hold a candle to Gears of War on my Xbox360.

So it may take a year or two before they start producing games that will actually look better than the Xbox360 (come on Sony, you've got 8 friggin cores in your CPU, you should be wiping Microsoft on the floor!!)

But until then I'll definitely get a Wii and keep enjoying my 360 along with the downloadable HD movies (who needs Blu-ray???!!).

Picked mine up last Friday (HK 60GB Version). I am very impressed. The PS3 is a far superior console than the 360 and is future proof.
The Sony Network (Free) is not fully functional yet but in 3-6 months it should be pretty good.

I plugged in a USB keyboard and mouse and was browsing the web on it within 20 minutes of unboxing the unit. I can also use my plantronics BT headset or any other BT headset for online gaming/chat. I upgraded the HDD this afternoon in a few minutes and hope to install Yellow Dog Linux on it sometime tonight. These are things I cannot do with my 360.

@Jake
The downloadable HD movies on XBL are a joke. It takes forever to download and soon this will be blocked to non us IP's/Gamertags. Check this out (Ms to ban out of region Live accounts)

@Disco
The 60GB HK version is around $3780. There is a $5280 package that includes 3 games, extra controller, premiums & some dealers are throwing in a Hdmi or comp cable.

discobay, I think you can find the 360 for around $2500hkd or cheaper. The premium bundle comes with a 20gb HD, headset, wireless controller, and media remote.

If you're not itching to get a next gen game system now then you should probably wait until more games come out on the ps3 to see what they're like. I would have loved to see the sequels to Devil May Cry, God of War, or even Gran Tursimo at launch, but no luck.

JaredHK, one thing you should know by now is that no technology or equipment is "future proof", that's just marketing Hype.

I find it interesting that you do not mention any games when stating that the PS3 is far superior than the 360, isn't this a gaming machine? You talk about plugging in a keyboard+mouse and browsing the web. I guess you wanted a Linux PC?

Xbox Live is far from a joke, in fact Sony stole quite a few people away from Xbox Live for their own network service.

I've been downloading up to 1GB game demos for over a year now and it takes only 30min-1hr. I've also watched a few movies and the download times are on the faster side, 30min per 1GB. Although the first day my movie didn't completely download. That does suck about the region locking, oh well, they do it for DVDs I guess they'll do it for online downloads.

Even though I sound down on the PS3 I'll probably get it when the blockbuster titles come out. But I still find it funny how it was supposed to be "twice as powerful" as the 360, but you don't hear that anymore, lol.
