Hello,
we have a Shih Tzu ourselves and were being told to bring her to Norris on 37 Caine Road (do not know the name of the shop, close to escalator). Norris listens to your requests and knows how to deal with dogs in a gentle way. After 2 hours we could collect a happy, clean dog. He charges HKD 380. We will certainly go there again. I really have the comfy feeling that he likes dogs but at the same time knows how to handle them. We will certainly bring her to Norris again. Succes!

crabtreemeeko - this is closer to central, but also off escalator so you can try these guys for comparison:
Bubble Bath

1st floor, 55 Wellington Street
I haven't personally sent any dogs for pet-grooming there, but I regularly buy pet-food at this place and can tell that they're animal-friendly & know what they're doing. They usually have a few cutie dogs roaming round the store.

Dog Grooming

Just want to share a "bad experience" i had with a dog grooming place in Happy Valley - "Miss Pet II". My dog is 3 years old, just came from the States and has never been sick. I made my first appointment for a groom and then my dog fell sick, probably due to the stress of moving and being in such a different environment. However, it did not last long and soon he was well. Anyway, i called and post-poned the appointment - twice in fact - coz i wanted to make sure that my dog was in good shape before he went to a "dog shop" where he might be liable to contract something else, especially since I have heard of the reputation of Pet shops in HK - and i had no experience with this one. On the day of the appt. i called 15 mins before - just to confirm - and then i showed up there, and he started making up all types of excuses - ranging from i dont have your name on the appt. book (despite the fact that I called him 10 mins before i showed up and he confirmed), we are fully booked today and cannot take him etc., He was absolutely rude and ordered me to sit in the back of the store in a chair!!! I left very unhappy and promising to write about him in the expat blog! I called an Expat Vet to get other recommendations and was told that I did well to stay away from him, cause his reputation precedes him - from rudeness to a case of selling sick dogs! Another phenomenon that has me wondering is that I have been to his shop 3 times and on all occasions there are 4 dogs there that are almost dead asleep! Hmm... wonder what they are smoking???

how did the place smell? i refuse to buy any pet products from a pet shop that smells...it tells me that they do not clean the cages properly or that the animals are not well cared for. either way, they won't get my business! (i know that dogs smell, but if the place smells REALLY strongly, then i give it a miss)

What a terrible experience Jeeves!

My dog groomer is Jay at Dogfathers (http://www.dogfathers.com.hk/) - he comes to my house to groom my pooch and does an excellent job. I highly recommend him.

Hi there
I know this is unrelated to your post but I noticed that a few Shih Tzu owners have replied here. I have a male Shih Tzu and I am looking for a female one to breed with him. We are living in Pokfulam and have enough space to keep all the puppies if you wish to not keep them. They will have a loving home with me.
Please contact me if you are interested or would like more details.

groomers

The Doggeteer on Mosque street and Cosmo Clinic on Robinson Rd. Both supportive of animal rescue organaisations so there is a double 'feel good'
