hihi, i have been looking at apartments around Robinson Road (Palatial Crest), Bonham Road (Bon-Point) and No 2. Park Road. The apartments are new which is what i liked. However, Bonham Road and Park Road seems pretty far from the escalators. Is it possible to walk there?
Any review on these apartments are appreciated! Thanks
It is possible to walk from Bonham Road to the escalators but as KIA says it is fair hike and not something you want to do in either the heat of summer or when you are late for work.
Traffic noise in Bonham Road can be appalling (as can the exhaust fumes) due the amount of vehicles and the number of stoplights. Traffic noise abates around 11 pm and restarts around 7 am. For this reason I would either avoid Bonham Road or make sure your apartment is facing away from Bonham Road.
The other traffic-related thing to bear in mind is the journey time to work especially in rush hour. It can take 20-25 minutes to reach Admiralty by bus/mini-bus due to traffic snarl-ups. The minibuses always seem full between 8-8:30am and ironically the double decker buses seem to block the road as passengers board and alight. If you leave a bit earlier - say 7:45 am you tend to miss the worst of the traffic.
However, in its favour, I found apartments in Bonham Road (Sai Ying Pun) quite spacious and certainly cheaper. The best advice i can give is to get an apartment there that does not overlook the main road.
You should check out 62B Robinson Rd. It's pretty near the escalator and apartment is big and nice. Saw 2 there today but taking neither as the building basically doesn't allow dogs.
