Cuurently negotiating the relocation package, which includes 15,ooo HKD housing allowances. Desparately trying to figure out, if tis budget will allow me to rent a 1 or 2-bedroom apartment on the island, say in Pokfulam, Repilse bay, Shousonhill, Tai tam or Stanley...and if this budget is not enough to rent in these areas, which area would u recommend, preferrable English speakers expats environment and not more than 30 min drive to the Central?

You would be hard pressed to find any 1 or 2 bedroom apts in Repulse Bay, Tai Tam, Shouson Hill and Stanley - so the question of rent is hypothetical. There are some buildings around Pokfulam Road, but not sure about the English bit.

You can look at lower Midlevels (ie Caine Road, Bonham Road, Park Road) or in some older buildings in Happy Valley. The asking may be higher, but you can negotiate.

20K would dramatically improve your choices in Mid-Levels, Happy Valley and Pokfulam.

15K will get you a fairly decent place in Western too.

Rest of the places mentioned .. budget for about 25K in living + transport expenses at a minimum.

Hmmm...just looking at the map, still trying to find smth within the budget..and what about Koowloon, such areas as Tsim Sha Tsui, Hung Hom, Yau Ma Tei or Mok kOng? Are they considered descent residential areas (not looking for luxury, but for the bit higher than mid-class level)? And how much time is it to the Central?
