Cool Heres a dumb question....

I noticed a recent thread was closed almost as soon as it was opened. I looked in the FAQ's but wasn't able to find out how one goes about closing a thread. Is this something that can only be done by the thread originator, or can a Geoexpat administrator just cancel it for whatever reason?

Not thinking of closing any threads mind you, just curious.

Its an admin / moderator function. Generally rely on a sixth sense when it comes to closing threads which have started a downhill spiral.

I believe the original poster can request the site admin to close a thread. The site admin can also close a thread once the posts become obsolete (as in the case of happy-hours already done); or if they become irrelevant, or veer away from the original idea of the thread. A thread also gets closed if it "gains" the potential to attract spammers (again, due to whatever was posted) ...
