I am coming this weekend to settle schools and find an apartment. The listings look hopeless! It seems that the kids will go to school on HK Island and my husband will commute to Shatin via KCR East Rail at Shek Mun.

Where should we live?

-we want a large apartment on the island.
-pool, club and playground.
- a walkable area. is that possible?

We have upped our budget from our initial estimates considerably, as the prices have shocked us. We were leaning toward Happy Valley. We need to stay near the MTR for the commute.
How long of a commute can he expect?
Would a car be desirable? (he really does not want to drive!)
We had limited schooling options in Kowloon and NT. We have one application in, but it seems unlikely. Also we do not want to take a chance with ESF in Shatin or Kowloon Tong, as we are not sure if they would be accepted or if it would be right for them.

Any suggestions for areas to look or buildings? I have a very limited amount of time.

About 15 minutes from TST to Shatin via KCR. No idea how long from Happy Valley to TST on MTR. (Sorry.)
No car. You'd have to up your housing to include a car park spot and then you'd have to factor in parking in Sha Tin.

Happy Valley =(Cross Harbour Tunnel)=> Hung Hom Kcr Station ==> Shatin KCR will go faster.

Fro Happy Valley to Hung Hom:
- Check the direct bus
- Or if you live lower Happy valley walk to causebay: you can take 112, 101, 115, 116, 106.. ect plenty of bus.
