Roofed Parking for Motorcycle in Central/SoHo/Sheung Wan? Dear all, I just passed my motorcycle license in HKG and my bike will be here in a month. I don't really want to park it on the road and unfortunately I don't have parking at my apartment on Aberdeen Street. Does anybody know where I can find a roofed parking place for my bike in the Central, SoHo, Sheung Wan area (ideally close to Aberdeen Street)? I would not mind sharing the parking lot with a car and paying a small rental fee. Any ideas or suggestions? Cheers, Henning

good question - only thing preventing me from getting a bike here is trying to figure out where I would park it.... i live in causeway bay but there isn't anywhere close to my flat as far as i can tell, except maybe leaving it down an alleyway by the petrol station. what kind of bike are you getting shipped over?

Lots of bikes park on Bridges St just off Aberdeen - it is outdoors but the bikes all have covers. Many of the buildings along that street have carparks where maybe you could get a spot. Our building is on Kui in Fong at the end of Bridges St - we have empty spaces but tracking down the owner of the spaces is the hard bit b/c they don't belong to the tenants.

| Thanks for the info. I thought of maybe asking some real estate agents in the area to find out which building has carparks and who would be willing to rent a small space out for a bike... As for the bike, I like vintage bikes and got a Chinese Chiang Jiang 750 without side car from China. There is a guy in HKG who sells them but charges outrageous prices. In CN they are still cheap (around RMB 20 - 25k for a solo) and they do quite a good job in restoring them. Attached a pic. The bike is restored to resemble its original ancestor the 1930s BMW R77. | Hi Max, It takes quite some time... I would say you can probably do it within 5 months if you plan ahead. The main problem is that it takes quite a lot of time to get the test dates. I finished my first compulsory lessons and then had to wait a month to do the mandatory test. Then I finished all other lessons and had to wait another month for the road test. Since I am working from 9 to 6 and am travelling quite a bit I was also not so flexible when it comes to arranging for lessons. If you want to go for it I would suggest you plan all your lessons and test dates ahead then you should maybe even be able to finish it in less than 5 months. Cheers, Henning |

cool bike - looks very similar to the beemer - just different shape cylinder heads that stick out. If you've got a full uk bike licence, do you still have to pass your test here, or is it valid for riding in HK?

I am not sure... Best thing is to check with the HK Transport Department - Licensing Office: (852) 2804 2600 Cheers, Henning

Hi all, As long as you can prove you have a full UK bike license you can get a Hong Kong one no problem, mine took about 25 mins to process in Admiralty. As for the covered parking I would love to find somewhere in CWB/Wanchai as muppets have ripped my cover twice. Also anybody know of a garage or similar with a Jetwash as I always attract a crowd when i'm washing my bike, guess the local chinese can't believe i don't have a maid to do it. Gweilo
