Originals or photocopies? (dependant visa)

Hi all,

I'm applying a dependant visa for my husband, and it is required that we give some supporting documents such as bank statements and family letters etc.

Do we have to give them the originals or shall we just send them the photocopies, but it is clearly stated that they want the ENVELOPES with the letters.

Would be grateful if anyone can help

Thanks in advance.

I sent photocopies... I bank online and I save next to nothing. Do not take my advice though, as I still do not have my visa!

Good Luck!

Unless you have a good reason not to send the originals then send them. You'll get everything back - don't worry HK bureaucracy is the most efficient I have ever come across. The trick is to give them 110% of what they ask for and you'll have no trouble at all.

Never been asked to give originals of anthing, either for me or for the dependents. I would check through the guide to fill up the forms, which should be available on the immigration website.

If they said "Do not submit originals", then don't. If nothing is mentioned, then you could do either - I suppose, but simple copies are enough.

thanks a lot for all your timely replies

I'm just worried to send the original letters since they mean a lot to me and I don't want to lose them

another question is that how many letters i should send them? I always think what we said in our letters is so private that I feel uneasy having someone reading through them
