Hi all,

I'm kinda new at this, hope I can get some help!

I'll be graduating from my teaching degree at the end of this year (Bach. of Education) and I was wondering what job opportunities I might have in Hong Kong. I'd be interested in working in primary schools as a generalist classroom teacher. Do schools in HK generally hire graduate teachers? And what's the best way to go about looking for job openings? Also, I'm an Australian-born Malaysian... I know that that may pose some difficulties in securing a position as an ESL teacher in some situations but as a generalist classroom teacher, would that affect my employment opportunities in any way?

Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks heaps!

Hi Ellen

Since you've a BEd degree and you're a native English speaker, I'm sure it won't be hard for you to get a teaching post in Hong Kong. You may check with Education and Manpower Bureau (EMB) to see if they hire NET at the moment (which I think so). Also you can check local websites such as classified post, there you can see ad as well, both from local and international schools in HK.
