| | | | allergies/ allergists I do not want to think about such boring practicalities, but I have allergies and I fear that they will be worse in HK. I also have athsma, which is not too bad. Does anyone notice that their allergies are worse in HK?
In the States, allergy season is the very worst for me in the autumn, as the weather turns cool. I actually feel terrible right now. My steady diet of candy does not help. I have been so busy, that my once healthy diet of grilled meats and veggies, has all but disappeared!
Are there good allergists in HK that have expat patients?
Does anyone have any names for me?
Thanks,
H | |

Just kidding.
I have asthma and I don't have more attacks here but I have to use meds most days (oral ventolin) and carry my inhaler.
Allergies for me are mold, dust mites and fumes. I take prescription antihistimines probably 200 days of the year.
Never have been to an allergist here, most GP's are very adept at treating us due to the pollution and humidity.
If I were you, I'd bring along my medical charts and meds to last at least 3 mos.
Good luck and welcome to HK.

| | | Try Graeme Stuart Bradshaw at IMI - find him using google. I've posted before but just for you..... personally I had the same concerns but have been pleasantly surprised, have hardly used my asthma inhaler since I got here a year ago despite the pollution - i put it down to a lack of grass and pollen - both things I'm allergic to and both things in short supply in HK. Within minutes of being in New Zealand my allergies adn asthma are back. A big plus about HK for me. Hope you have the same experience - being able to to breathe is very nice. | |

| | | I'm so thankful I never have pollen allergies. My poor sister does and it's misery.
Do you think we don't notice pollen here even in places like Sai Kung is because of the humidity? It can't blow around as much maybe?

| | | | Thanks for the answers. I am seriously allergic to grass, oak, pollen and the likes. The Arizona desert was a great treat for me long ago. Perhaps HK will be another pleasent surprise. | |

| | Beafan,
I haven't figured out if you can do this on your own, but BioTek sells this allergy kit http://www.hkbiotek.com/eng/E_Home.html
