Question Tefl/Tesol in Hong Kong

Hello all,

I'm wondering if anyone out there can give me a little H.K help. I'm currently working in Shenzhen as an overworked office monkey! I've finally cracked and want to change my job. I'm planning on moving to Hong Kong to do a TEFL/TESOL course to pursue teaching in the mainland.

Does anyone knows of any creditable courses, places or even websites that I can gain some further info on. I've tryed searching google and it seems to only come up with places in the mainland (EG. Zui hai) to learn.

Any info or help is well appreciated. Hope to be joining you all for parties, booze, parties, booze and good times!!!

All the best,

Johnny

My suggestion is to take the course online. Onlinetefl.com is the one I took and I found it to be quite good.

Hope that helps a little

Thanks HKChigger,

Just one question though. Does this online TEFL give you a legit international accreditation? I've been given many bad views on online courses due to many of the online accrediting boards share the same address as the internet provider. Meaning that they reconise their own accreditation, which also means no one else will.

Anyhow many thanks for your input.

All the best,

Johnny

As far as I know it is legit as I have never had anyone say different all the jobs I have applied for as well as the company that hired me has not said anything either. They seem like a pretty self run company and they are very pro.

I did my Tefl online with onlinetefl.com and I think it is legit. It seems to be fairly well known round here as most of the positions i went for see, to have heard of it.

Thank you all for your responce, well appreciated!! I was wondering if anyone has done a TEFL/TESOL course via a university in Hong Kong, rather than online. I think personally I'd learn better this way and gain more experiance.

Thanks again for your input.

All the best

If you're looking to be hired by EMB as a NET, an online TEFL or TESOL is not preferred by them. That's something that you might want to consider.

Cheers Sunnie,

I've taken that into account and I'm only looking to take in-class Tesol/Tefl courses. But I'm really finding it hard to find a resonably priced course out there. Some of these classes are really extortionate!!

Anyhow I'm determined not to go back to office monkeying. So if anyone has any more info, I'll love you for eternity!!!

grazie, ciao ciao!!
