| Apartment Rental Conventions in HK ... Hi all, I am curious as to what is the convention in HK for initiation of a tenancy agreement. For example, in New Zealand rental agreements are worked out on the basis of a _weekly_ rental price: one pays 2 weeks bond (held by a government agancy in case of disputes at the end of the tenancy), 2 weeks rent in advance, and if you find a place thru a property agent, they take equivalent of 1 week rent for their fee. So equivalent of 5 weeks rent as an initial payment. Rent is usually paid weekly or sometimes fortnightly. Clearly things work differently in HK, as all rental property advertisements quote a _monthly_ fee - not weekly. I could be wrong, but I assume there are some conventions that are followed when renting an apartment in HK? if so, how does it work? Cheers, Bernard |
