| | | I have absolutely no idea where to get some snowboarding action here. I am thinking of going to Japan during the winter season to get my fill of it. Or more likely I will go back to Canada for a bit. |

| | i hear NISEKO GRAND HIRAFU japan is good aparently, check out : http://www.snowjapan.com/e/resorts/r....php?resid=120
been doin some research , korea is cheaper but the sport there is less developed, japan is more expensive but the powder is meant to be the best and theres less chance of being taken out by a beginner thinking he can handle a red or black slope on his first day(which happens in korea aparently!) |

| | | Snowboarding Japan is awesome and has a long season running right through until April in some areas.
Niseko, Nagano and Hokkaido are all great spots.
You can save money staying a cheap and comfy backpakers that have deals for weekly monthly stays.
Japan is expensive to travel around but the cost of living can be very cheap and the snow is EPIC.
Snowboard all day, Onsen (hot spa) and Kirins by night...it's gold.
Don't hesitate, just go.
Also, China..check out Nanshan Park...I might try to get there and hit the pipe during Feb. if anyone is interested. |

| | | Hey Vissnz, thanks for the info.
I am planning a trip to Japan to visit my friend and she already gave me the green light to plan a snowboarding side trip. I am looking to see if I can book something in Shiga Kogen. It looks massive and spectacular.
BTW, Where's this Nanshan Park? Is it cheap? Are the rental equipment up to snuff? |

Not sure about the quality of rentals, but being set up with help of the guys from Burton there will be some nice gear floating round.
Looks cheap and fun and I hear this year they will be developing the park some more.
Have fun in Japan, it will blow ur mind!! |

| | | Visited Shiga Kogen last season, but were less than impressed, sure there are loads of runs and lifts, but the vertical is less than impressive, and the runs are not very long.
I would recommend Naeba ahead of Shiga Kogen, much better vertical and a bit steeper. Naeba also seems to be much more boarder friendly as well, parts of Shiga Kogen are in fact of limits for boarders!
Any one who knows in there is a travel agent that arranges good (and cheap) skiing packages from Hong Kong? |

Could you tell me about the prices at Naeba compared to Shiga Kogen. One of the attractive things in Shiga Kogen is that there's a lot of resorts and some are quite affordable. I am there to board and not to pay a lot for digs. | | Tools | Search | | | | | Rate This Thread | | | All times are GMT +8. The time now is 07:07 PM. | |
