Short-term/serviced place, affordable, Island, ASAP? Pretty much as the subject says. I got back to town last week, and although I'm staying with a mate (Hi! if you read this), I want to find somewhere else - partly because I don't want to take an unseemly amount of advantage of his hospitality, and partly because I just like having my own space. I intend to find work (new work - old one is done), but I don't want to sign up to anything longer than a month at a time before that's sorted because, well, if it doesn't work out, I don't want to be stuck with a rental contract in HK if I end up moving elsewhere, so I need something short-term. Serviced probably makes sense, simply because unserviced for a month probably doesn't make sense. So I'm looking for something serviced, on the Island, affordable (my budget is around $10k-$12k, maybe stretching up towards $14k if it's worth it) and available ASAP - today, tomorrow, this week. I've spoken to a bunch of places, and looked at a couple, and it seems that all the decent places are full, and the few places with space have space because, well, I wouldn't want to stay there. I'd be happy with a studio, but there seems to be a couple of different definitions - I consider it a flat with a shared living and bedroom, while the two places I looked at this morning consider it a single room, with a toilet and shower in the corner behind a glass partition, and a tiny sideboard with fridge, microwave and sink. What I really want is somewhere like I was before (Hanlun Habitats), but a bit smaller, a bit less nice, a bit lower service, a bit less nice location - and therefore a lot more affordable. In a few days, I think I'll be shifting to wanting whatever's available... I suppose the other option is to be optimistic, take on a proper rent (of a furnished place), and prepare to take the hit if I have to leave after a couple of months and can't sell the lease on...

send a pm to servicedstudios .. seems to have a fair number of apartments on lease. http://www.geoexpat.com/classifieds/...0&ppuser=12928 Not sure if they're serviced, but I do have a feeling they might be flexible on the lease term.

Just for the record, I put down a 1 month+deposit payment on a studio in North Point yesterday, at 112 Apartments. In the end, a decent-looking place of a decent-ish size for a decent-ish price, in an interesting and lively - if more 'Chinese' than I'm used to - area. And it's only a few minutes from CWB in the end - it's not like it's Kowloon or - horrors! - Lamma :-) I am only planning to be there for a month or two at most... time to get on with the job-hunting now...

Hey vmlinux, Now that you have been at 112 for a couple of days, how is it? I am in the same boat as you. What are you doing for internet access there?
