I was in Ikea last night and wasn`t too impressed with the matresses however they are a dam site cheaper than the flash one`s over at Ap Lei Chau even after haggling. (we didn`t visit all the floors though). I ended up getting one from Pricerite which seemed to fit the happy medium of good quality for a decent price. Also they have promised to deliver it within 48hours which really suited our needs as we have nothing in our apartment. We`ve only been searching for stuff for a couple of days...that Horizon Plaza in ALC is fantastic. 27 floors of furniture...even if you can`t afford half of it, its fantastic for getting ideas of what is available.

All the Ikea mattresses seem too soft to me. You might want to try the Jusco department store in Taikoo Shing. They have everything from cheap to expensive mattresses.

Yes, I think they have those brands, as well as cheap local brands. If you're not satisfied with the selection, you can walk over to UNY in Cityplaza.

I got a Sultan Storfors wooden base spring mattress, back in January. I too prefer firmer beds, and this one has served me well. It was also pretty inexpensive, and all you need on top of the price of the mattress are 4 extra legs (5 for double beds, to go in the centre). You can also get mattress pads to make the mattress firmer or softer, depending on what you prefer. But I think with any mattress purchase, it's best to try it out at the store first, since you'll be spending a third of your life in it!

I too got mine at Pricerite near SOGO. It was and extra long King Coil and it is reasonable firm - still very happy with it a year later.
