Smile Secured credit card in HK

Here is my question. I would like to apply for a visa credit card in HK. I am currently a a Powervantage user at HSBC and they told me it is possible to get a receive a credit card if I was to make a 50k fixed deposit with them, since I was not a resident. Is there any other option, at other bank, for a smaller deposit? I just need USD500/1000 credit monthly.
Thanks.
Pat

hmmm i haven't heard of anyone offering a secured credit card here in hk. if you can wait about 3 months or so from your initial deposit, they'll give you one already.

I have been using my account for a year now without any "offer" of credit card. As far as I know unsecured credit cards are the only option for non residents.

If u qualify for Poweradvantage with HSBC, many banks in HK should be willing to offer u credit card, except HSBC. Just go elsewhere. That was the reason I stop banking with HSBC.

You can use your ATM card and pay by EPS in virtually most shops (not bars / restaurants as far as I know).

But I can't pay online with the debit card. Which is why I wanted the CC at the first place.
