Need new furniture help!

Hi

My partner and I are shortly moving to HK to work and will be renting an apartment but it has no furniture. Is it possible to rent furniture and if so does anybody have any details of companies that do?

Also is it possible to rent a t.v ideally as a plasma?!!

If anyone can help me out we'd greatly appreciate it and also if anyone has anythiong else that would be helpful to know about moving to HK please let me know.

Thanks again

Hayley

this may not be answering your question, but may give you food for thought - as I am also from the UK, and I know what furniture costs over there, I can tell you that furniture can be very cheap here. Seriously, most of it is made in China and maybe costs a third of what similar stuff in the UK would cost - and you will get it in a quarter of the time.

So buying maybe an option for you depending on your budget.

I remember buying a linen covered sofa from MFI about 3 years ago for my house in the UK. I had to wait nearly 10 weeks and it cost about 800 quid.

A decent quality leather sofa here will cost you something like around 4000 to 5000 dollars and you will get it within 2 weeks. In case you didn't realise that is about 300 to 350 quid at current exchange rate.

Anyway, maybe this bump will also bring your plight to the attention of others in the same situation.

Why not head to a furnished service apartment for a month while you outfit/look for the real place?
Furniture will be even less expensive if you head into China.

If you will have relocation expenses back to the UK, you may consider stocking up on furniture while you are in Hong Kong. The prices are quite decent on many things, and you can also have stuff custom made.

I also strongly suggest renting, for one month, a serviced apartment to get the lay of the land, if this is your first time in HK.
