Angry Discrimination at the SANDS, Macau

So, I went to Macau for the first time on Sunday night with my husband. We drink, gamble, drink, gamble, etc…so we go to get back on a ferry at 2:00 a.m. and there was no more ferries ‘til 7:00 a.m., so we were stuck there, all hotel rooms were booked.

So, we went back to Sands which is the establishment that we donated the most money to, and after eating at their Japanese restaurant, we still had ample time to kill. We sat in booths by the bar, where there was no one sitting, except one Chinese man. We sat and watched their big screen TV which was playing fashion shows, and within 10 MINUTES, two security guards approached us and told us we had to buy a drink or leave!!! I looked over and the other Chinese guy sitting there was sleeping on the sofa with no drink in front of him. So we bought a Coke and left after a half hour with the security guards’ eyes on us at all times, while the other Chinese man was STILL sitting there. TOTAL DISCRIMINATION!

I’m using this forum to vent because I feel that we were treated unfairly, especially since we had spent so much money there that night and only sat there for a total of 45 minutes. We were dressed nicely and completely look unthreatening.

So if you are going to Macau:
1. Make sure you buy your return ferry ticket in advance.
2. To avoid discrimination, avoid the SANDS casino.

I’m sure there are people that will have good stories to tell you about this, but I for one, will NEVER go back to the Sands Casino. It is a terrible, terrible feeling to be discriminated against and it is a hopeless and miserable feeling to deal with.

Whether or not the old guy was there still should not mean you should be asked to leave. Surely SOMEONE saw you spending time and money beforehand.

That's why Sands drives me crazy. Not a soul on the floor who are able to recognize stuff like this.

Could you not have produced the bill from the Japanese restaurant to demonstrate that you were spending money?

Having spent time in Vegas .. I'm blown away that they would even bother getting people to spend on drinks.

Drinks are free for punters....

Something is very bizzare about this .. vegas style hospitality .. let the customer do what they want .. as long as they're not breaking the law or umm... soliciting. They'd rather you free load on their floor than on a competitor's floor .. as you never know when the urge to gamble takes over.

A couple of Sands employees are members here... lets see if they surface. Doubt it though ...

Any case .. the old chinese man must have been a dai-lo.

OP- May I ask you a question?

Although this question may be offensive to you, I would like to ask if both you and your husband are Caucasian, or if you are different races.

I sometimes see that asians treat mixed couples worse than couples of the same race.

So maybe they guards had nothing else to do, saw an Asian woman with her White guy, and decided to abuse their power.

Wynn vs. Sands

We are both caucasion, Italian background, were dressed up, if anything--we stood out amongst others, so you would think someone would remember us gambling and walking about the casino for hours. And you're right, I've been to Vegas and they would welcome people to sit just for the mere fact, that they may get up and gamble some more dollars at some point.

Wynn on the other hand, was very, very hospitable to us. We met the Casino Floor Manager who brought us a couple complimentary drinks, although we didn't win a dime on the slots because I didn't realize that the line bets and how many times each line was bet was reversed.....very tricky I may add. But anyhow, yes loved the Wynn, I was even sad when we left the Wynn because we really just stopped by to see it and spent the majority of our time at the Sands.....BIG MISTAKE!

Anyways, there was doubt about it, we were singled out for whatever reason, and the two security guards approaching us on both sides was very embarassing. It's just really sad for me because that was my first time there, and I doubt I will ever want to go back!

Very dissappointing news. I don't get it.

Spend your time at Wynn.

I'm looking forward to my first visit there this week.
