| | Lots of indie gigs happening this year! Here's the press release on Underground 32 happening this Friday, next post will be about the LLNR festival.
================================================ Underground is the best night club in the world!
Who said that? Chris B? Well yes, but also someone else,
namely LUKAS ROSSI, who passed this way earlier this
year before becoming famous by winning the Rockstar
Supergeriatrics show earlier this month. "The
Underground rocks, man!" he said in his cute accent,
peering out from under his streaked hair. and indeed it does, Lukas.
Some super, soaraway bands to tickle your tastebuds
and your g-spot at Les Visages...
how about TRANSNOODLE...a tasty bunch of masculine, hairy
rockers from (of course) Lamma. You'd expect the
trumpets, but their ska beats will have some of you
thinking you were at Finsbury Park watching Madness
and The Specials 27 years ago. That is how old I am.
Too much, too young.
I've never heard of them but watch out for THE
SINISTER LEFT. Any band who counts Radiohead,
Interpol, New Order, and The Smiths as their
influences must either be very brilliant, or
terminally dead. I am assured they are not dead, so
there you are. I am going to get my long raincoat out
of the closet which I probably last wore watching the
Bunnymen in 83. Those were the days...("Old git" - Ed) THE YOURS. Post-punk and shoegazing! Fantastic! Will
have to get some new shoes! Red ones I think. They
have an album out soon. I'm sure I will like this band
as I saw Ride and Lush in 1993 and they changed my
life, especially that bird singer in Lush who smashed
a bottle of Heineken over my head. I loved her.
The there is F.T.T. Sounds like a record label
inhabited by Frankie Goes To Hollywood, but in fact it
stands for Forty Twenty Two, which is the number of
the room where the band used to practise. Name
checking their influences...Muse, Nirvana, Libertines,
Babyshambles. Sounds intriguing. Wonder if they take
drugs like that Doherty bloke. I used to take loads of
drugs when I was young. Missed 1980 entirely. Failed
my exams as well. But I did see New Order's very first
gig, which frankly means I can die happy. (“yawn –Ed”)
The last band - although not necessarily in this order
- is SANSKRIT. See their video at It's brilliant, and the song is good too. Looking forward to see them
live, reminds me a bit of those all ska groups like
Madness and Specials ("shut up you senile bastard"-Ed)
A great night ahead at The Underground. Wear your baggy trousers.
Toodle-pip!
William Sickey

| | | bbchris, if you're involved with the festival -- drop me a line, I'm not that keen on forum spam from promoters. If you're not .. then let me know too. | |

| | | Underground IS awesome For anyone who saw the Sept 29th show at Skitz... it was smoky, sweaty and groovin! all the bands kicked ass (we of Transnoodle had a great time).
The Yours were probably my favorite. They followed our ska set with ... Jesus and Mary Chain and Swervedriver!! Their CD is out this month and I'm definitely getting it. Funny because I don't buy CDs any more. Transnoodle's CD ain't comin' out for awhile.
UNDERGROUND!!!!
Guaranteed good time and 25 dollar Asahis.... Arigato Gozarimas Chris B!

| | | Great evening. Yours truly was there. bbchris wasn't. and then of course there was that speeded and rocked up version of leaving on a jet plane supposedly because the band's time was running out. | |

I will have to go and check out the next Underground gig.

| | | Sorry for resurrecting an old post, but it would be good if anyone could recommend any good indie / metal / electro nights, other than Underground and HK Live! Can be live gigs or DJ! | |

| | | I am glad it was resurrected. The Avril thread was making me nervous about the state of music. I had no idea people would be so into that here. | |

| | I would say this is the one and only thing I miss from being in London.
Erm, I don't mean Avril Linguine playing, I mean being able to see a quality indie band nearly every night!!
I mean bands like Interpol, The Yeah Yeah Yeahs, CSS and so on are never going to come play HK Quote:
