I can help you on a few things here: 3. It should be pretty cheap to travel to the station from your hotel. Buses can be complicated. From my experience Taxis are the best bet. 4. There really are not any specific times for trains to Hong Kong. You will find the earliest is just before 6am. You will need to get to the Lo Wu border. This is just across from the main Shenzen station. Go through the immigration route that applies to you, then proceed forward, (theres no turning back after) and go into HK through HK immigration. Get on the KCR to your HK destination. Do you know where you are going in HK? Last edited by Fay_jai_Mc; 28-09-2006 at 03:44 PM.

Shenzhen Your hotel is 3 km from LuoHu station. Take a taxi. The Sz metro goes to windows on the world it is the last stop at the other end from Luohu 14 stations. About 35 mins. You do not need to change trains just go the 14 stops. One side of the road is windows, and on the other side is Happy Valley, a Disney style theme park, if you are into that. Nearby is a Chinese Cultural Villege. You can take a train from LuoHu to Guangzhou. Only around 40 mins. There are plenty of signs in Eng.at the Shenzhen railway stn. in LuoHu. The trains are very frequent. print out a combined rail map of SZ and Hk on: http://www.johomaps.com/as/hongkong/hkmetro.html Both are together on one map. I have used online agents. The one I use is ratestogo.com.They are quite good. Beware of pickpockets in LuoHu and all over Guangzhou.Wear a money belt under your shirt. Your hotel Oriental Regent has a website. Take a look. There is a location map on it. Have a good trip. Trev.

Well I just got back from Shenzhen late november, this might be usefull for Jack33 so this is my Answer : 1. I staying in 3 class hotel, I forgot the name, But it's location is near Oriental Regent Hotel ( I stayed there before moving to my new hotel just cross the street). For Oriental Regent, is good hotel, 4 star rating, about 400 ++ Yuan/ night. If you want to find cheaper one (I staying in 3 class hotel, and cost about 180 yuan/night, its clean and have good fasilites), try looking in Luohu Area. There are many. 2. For Electronic U can visit Electronic City area in Shenzhen. Take Metro to get there. It's Cheap an Fast. If u want to Sightseeing there many area in Shenzhen U can Visit. Windows of the World and Happy Valley Are very near, U can take metro there. U also can visit Seaworld in Xiameisha, but u can take metro there, U have to take Bus. For new visitor, try to ask people how to get to Xiameisha. 3. Visiting Shenzhen, for Me it's enough about 3 - 4 days, if you want to visit all area of course. Here my tips for new visitor. LEARN Chinese, Shenzhen not like Hongkong, where people in Hongkong can speak English and all information sign written in English. Shenzhen people not much speak English, But Chinese (not Cantonese) and all Sign information written in Chinese (few in English). By the way, Beware of pickpocket, specially in Bus and Metro. I hope this information is Usefull Neo

About SZ Hi Neo. thks for your reply! Internet connection to this site is painfully slow, aftermath of taiwan quake! I can only understand simple chinese, and probably figureout a word or two, just wonder would it be enough? I'll reach HK on Sat morning, will stay 3 nites till Mon, then i'll depart to LuoWu by train, and will stay 2 nites near LW area(Tues- thurs), then i'll go back HK to visit Macau and some other islands perhaps, i'll be back to singapore on Sat. Is the hotel you mentioned, near the luowu border? Do i have to take a cab? Do you how much is the reasonable fare to pay? Is the pickpocketing/robbery in SZ really that bad? I've lots count of the warnings i've got. I intend not to bring any wallet, but money belt instead. Is it safe to carry camera(dSLR) inside my bag? I've been travelling alone to many parts of S.E.A, but none has been given so much attention to crime rate as in SZ!
