Smile [New member] Want to meet new friends in HK!

hello i am new here.
i just moved back to HK from the states to study at HKU (dentistry 1st year). i've been living in the states for around 10 years, so coming back and adapting to this different lifestyle is not easy at all, but i'm slowly getting used to it. at least i feel better taking buses on my own, and also knowing my way through mongkok when i go there to shop. =P

anyways, i have very few friends in hk, so meeting new friends is an important priority since i plan to finish my 5 years of studies at hku. most of the time, i'm just by myself in hk ga =(
since i don't live in the residential halls, i have trouble meeting new ppl in hk. too bad there are not many spaces available at the hku residential halls....so for now i'm also looking for an apartment room nearby the campus.

but anyway, i'd prefer meeting new people who are around my age range (20), can speak cantonese, and is generally quite "hknese". speaking english is fine too, but i'd prefer meeting people who share the same cultural background/interests as me.
thx for reading....hope to meet some good friends from here!

my msn: cyho.hk@hotmail.com
feel free to find me anytime =)

Please don't take this wrong but why do you post here on an expat site if you prefer to be with locals?

actually, i don't consider myself 100% local.
i think i'm only 50% local at most, because i find it not too easy communicating with the locals here, since my chinese level is not even the same as theirs.
and you also know how young ppl talk these days....they use really up-to-date informal slangish way of talking. and i don't understand a lot of it lol

but i can see some ppl here were raised in hk, moved to another country, and came back to settle down. so to answer your question, i'm more comfortable being around with these kind of ppl than with 100% locals =P

It's relative.

Lots of expats were born in one country, raised in another, and now live in a third. Does that mean you're not 'comfortable' meeting them?

so far, hk is pretty ok, since i haven't been back for such a long-term stay. i think i'm slowly adapting to the lifestyle here, so hopefully it will turn out good.

the only thing missing is some friends to hang out with. so depending on the situation it could be fun and boring sometimes -_-
