| | | Wedding Reception? (Reasonably priced) Hello,
My friend is getting married and I'm trying to help him find a really good, reasonably priced hotel to hold the reception. Since there might be many guests, he's looking at about HK$500 per head, or less.
I'm not really familiar with the hotels in Hong Kong, and perhaps you may be able to help me..
Any suggestions for a big but inepensivehotel? With website, if possible!!
Any help will be greatly appreciated!
Thank you in advance!

| | Hi Candice,
My sister had her wedding reception held at Hotel Miramar. There are different kinds of packages available. Visit the link for more information. http://www.miramarhk.com/wed/Wedding_P.htm
And this one is a good one but may be priced higher than Miramar. Been there for my friend's wedding dinner. They arranged a small area serving snacks and drinks outside the banquet hall. Feeling like in a lounge. Guests can just relax and chit-chat in the afternoon before the dinner.

| | | 6 years ago i was in the same situation, but with my own wedding.
we went and had a look at Gold Coast Hotel. It was beautiful, but we decided on The Happy Valley Race COurse. IT was FANTASTIC! we had a room overlooking the race track (they' don't do anything on race days though). the food was exquisite! we had a surf'n'turf buffet and all you can drink beer, house wine & soft drinks, juice.
the table settings were beautiful and the wait staff very attentive, but unintrusive. everyone that went remarked on the very "hong kong" venue and then also on the food.we paid $280/person + $108/person for drinks. it was so good hubby and i are trying to figure out another reason to head back there for another party...
i would definitely suggest the gold coast hotel in tuen mun. it's a truly beautiful setting. you can even get married in their garden under the gazebo overlooking the sea and yachts in the marina!

| | | I think one of the first things you need to consider is the date. Some dates are special in Hong Kong because some days will be said to be lucky for marriage. If you are booking on those days, be prepared for a shock, waiting lists for these lucky days stretch to 2008.
If the family isn't into all this chinese dates, then the hotels should be have spaces.
Cost wise, I am not sure. But soemone mentioned the Jockey Club, and the food there really is exceptional. So that could be a good alternative.

| | Thanks everybody, I''ll show these to my friend.
You've really helped!
And, no, my friend isn't Chinese, so, he probably won't mind the date
