How do you like living in/around Kowloon Tong?

My husband and I are considering moving over to the Kowloon Tong area (or close around it) for an easier commute to our work. Can anyone out there give us your feedback on how you like living in that area? What is there to do besides going to the Festival Walk? Is it fairly easy to shop for groceries there? How is the access to public transportation? Is it very expat-friendly?

Kowloon Tong is a very nice place with good public transportation as well as the shopping place. But be prepared for a high rent for that area. I believe it should be an expat-friendly place as its density is low.

Agree with greenietea, Kowloon Tong is a nice area to live esp. if you work nearby. There's more space, residential buildings are mostly low-rise. Lots of international/ESF schools around the area. Expat-friendly? Guess so, though there aren't that many expats as in the HK side. What is there to do other than going to Festival walk? Hmm.. if you mean bars or something, there's none that I know of. Other than Taste in Festival, there's more grocery shopping at Lok Fu shopping mall (Jusco, ParknShop, Wellcome)

Not all housings in Kowloon Tong have high rents, some places like in Beacon hill will be on the high-end side. But you can check out the Broadcast Drive area or others.

Kowloon Tong is a nice walk to Prince Edward where you will find flower market street, Fa Yuen Street, 'Gold Fish' Street blah blah blah. Slightly off in another direction is Shek Kip Mei where you will find a lot of local stuff like wet markets.

agree with all of the above. transportation is great with MTR, KCR, bus and mini-bus. there's a grocery store Taste in Festival Walk, a Wellcome on Oxford St, and Kowloon City market is not too far from kowloon tong as well.

umm, how cheap is cheap ?

Sai Kung (toward Pak Tam not SK town)
Yuen Long
Sheung Shui
Shek Kong
Kam Tin
Tung Chung
Tai Po
Sha Tin
Mah On Shan
Tsing Yi

All of the above will provide you 700ft 2 for between 4000 - 5500 per month.
