Question about materials which we need for applying dependent visa

I heard that if my bf is going to apply a dependent visa to HK ( after we get married ), the immigration department might need to have an interview with the sponsor.. in this case, i would be the one. I wonder what kind of questions are they going to ask? They also need family photos and letters, why is that? We don't like taking pics, but still got a few, is it enough?

they want to make sure that you have a "legitimate" marriage...

go rent the movie "green card" it's about a couple who marry to get around the US immigration...

my guess is they may ask you certain things about your relationship to make sure that it is real...ie. how did you meet? what did you do on your first date? how long have you been together? what do you call your mother-in-law?
that kind of thing.

they may also want to know how you are going to support him.

I think it is the case in most countries. There are many marriages of convenience in Hong Kong so it can't be that difficult to convince them.

Hi rosterbabe - I met my (now) husband online as well, so that will be an interesting one to explain to immigration! I think the photos and letters etc are to show how long you have been a couple for. I guess immigration would be lunappy about people who haven't known each other very long, but if you can show you had a long term relationship before you got married that's all they're looking for.

I think just make all your supporting documents ready like the marriage contract, bank statement or pay slip, house contract. I think if your marriage is for real, you have nothing to worry. You can also print out your old e-mails. The Immigration will only ask photos or interview you and your husband seperately if they are doubtful about the marriage. And of course, the financial side is also important and if any problem, the Immigration will ask you to provide more supporting documents.

hmm... u r not yet married. You need a legal document such as marrige certificate or something. If it's issued in overseas, you should notarise it. Also u need lots of documents and u should proof yourself that you can support him so you need to show them your income and house. The best way is that u visit immigration in Wanchai and ask them documents because if you don't apply the visa or ID before his arrival, they will ask him a written explanation why you apply it in HK not in overseas.
