Question Arrive Hong Kong late, Taxi to Shenzhen?

My family (Self, Wife & 2 Girls) arrive 8:00PM in Hong Kong (that is 10:00PM Australian time so for the kids it's late-ish), and we do not know if we should book into our Hotel (on the Island) and travel to Shenzhen the following day, or just catch a Taxi (Green - right?)

This will be our first trip, one or two days "Exploritory"

Hope someone can advise us :-)

Ron

i would not recommend going to shenzhen that night. you have to go through customs and immigration and make sure you have a visa (i'm not sure what time the office closes at the border).

you cannot take a taxi to shen zhen. you can take one to sheung shui, then get the train to lo wu, then cross the border (the area between sheung shui and lowu is a secured area and ONLY vehicles with special permission can enter. i don't know if taxis are allowed or not).

if you wake up early in the morning, then you can be on the MTR by 7 or 8 and in shen zhen by 8:00-9:00am.

why do you have to go to shenzhen? are you going to be living there?

Thank you Carang,

We are hoping to eventually do business with some factories there. We trade mainly with Taiwan and are beginning to think we might be missing out on the real action ;-)

Yes, we all have our Visa's up to date, our main business is the Trade Fairs in HK at this time of year, but they are "Glossy" and can be misleading, we want to "feel" the place if you know what I mean.

Live there? We have thought of that option also. As I said, it's exploritory.

Will leave the trip until the next day, we're taking your advice.

My wife feels better already (apart from the getting up early bit <G>)

Thanks!
