Divx, avi etc DVD Players - anyone own one?

Hello

I recently bought my mum an LG DVD player that can play divx, avi etc files, ie not only DVD format.

It also has a couple of memory card slots on the front, so I got a few 2Gb memory cards and I can give her her daily fill of Eastenders on a memory card.

This has been working fine for a month or so. Now, more and more of the content I put on the cards will only play for a few minutes or simply not play at all.

I have tried 3 different memory cards. Now, is this an issue with the player? The files play fine on the PC, but I am guessing that PC's are more 'tolerant'. I was wondering if anyone else uses this setup and can tell me if these players should be more reliable.

Thanks!

Have you tried re-encoding the videos and checking if it is a codec issue? Quite often if the person seeding the videos has changed / upgraded the encoder .. the dvd player might have a problem.
