Hi,
I read one thread recommending buying PC laptop from US first, but the power adaptor is different. I will only be in HK for one year. Should I just get the HK standard adaptor when I am in HK?

We also have a PowerBook G4 laptop, should we just get the adaptor there too or should we order from Apple now?

Any useful items that you would recommend bringing it from US if we are there only for a year and can ship easily?

Most laptops come with a universal power supply as they're designed for travellers.

Most people I know, carry their laptops. I would not recommend shipping a notebook on a slow boat to china.

Don't buy adaptors from Apple... they're overpriced and err .. overpriced. Get your convertors and adaptors sorted out when you come here.

to clarify, universal power supply means voltage and cycles are automatically converted, which means you only need a plug adaptor (cheap in HK - HKD 10-20), and with some nicely shaped power bars not even that.
