Smartone voicemail system

Any Smartone users know whether it's possible to:

- switch between activated/deactivated voicemail
- delete messages while they're playing back (right now I have to listen to the end of a message before pressing '7' to delete. Quite annoying when I get looping automated telemarketing messages that play for a minute)
- adjust the number of rings before diverting to voicemail Right now it rings about six times and most people won't hold that long.

number of rings -- setting which you can change from your handset

Not sure what you mean by activated / deactivated voicemail ...

I've also not figured out how to delete messages while they're playing...

The number of rings before diverting is only available on 'elite' phones :-)

I checked their online guide and it doesn't give any instructions. I'm sure I'm supposed to send some weird combination of hashes, stars and slashes.

I mean deactivating voicemail altogether. Sometimes I just want to be unreachable (to certain people!)

Same problems here. The inability to delete/jump/replay messages until the message has ended is driving me crazy.

The webpage doesn't shed any light on the problems.

There is no #*etc that will temporarily deactivate the voicemail.

But, and it is a big BUT, you can call their customer service line and they will deactivate it, but if you want it reconnected, it will cost you $50 per month. Most plans have free voicemail for 12 months.

Grandcider,

SmarTone-Vodafone's voice mail service is a fully automated system that is easy to use and ensures you will never miss any important messages. Whenever there is a new message, the system will automatically ring your mobile phone to play the recorded message, or you can choose to receive an SMS alert and listen to the message at your convenience. It's all up to you!

For more info about the easy & flexible operation of the voice mail system, you can visit this link:

Yes, it does. Specifically it tells you how to skip to the end without having to listen to the entire message:

"3 3 to end the message, then press 7 to delete and listen to next message or 9 to save"
