Calling all Filipinos - where would you do this?

Knowing that we have a good number of Filipino members here, I am hoping for your advice...

The company I work for is involved in running a singing contest (the Tunog Pinoy Star Search which you may have heard about on the Philippines Tonight Show on MetroPlus 1044AM). We need to finalise a venue for the Grand Final in December and we're not sure where would be the best place. The basic requirements are:

- must be available for exclusive booking for 12 noon to 6pm on a Sunday in December (preferably Sunday 10th)

- must have a good sound system and be able (and preferably have experience of doing) to hook it up to a live radio broadcast

- must be able to deal with a small live band but also with "glorified karaoke" type setups

- must be a place where an audience of 1-200 Filipinos of all ages and backgrounds (male and female) would feel comfortable going on a Sunday afternoon and which would be convenient for them

- must be able to provide snacks and drinks which would appeal to the audience

- mustn't be too expensive.

All ideas gratefully received - suitable "rewards" may be available for really good ideas.

Thanks in advance

We were thinking closed, but now you mention it we never really considered doing it outdoors. It's always taking a risk with the weather...

I'd be very suprised if Southorn Playground could be booked exclusively for a Sunday afternoon... Chater Square / Satue Square are the normal outdoor venues...

We are tentatively looking at doing it in Philippine Island restaurant in Jaffe Road, but unfortunately it is already booked on the 10th.

PI or Cinta would do I guess... 200 might be a bit tight for either venue

PDLM : I though I'd see concerts sponsored by Heineken etc being done there.

Is that a mini-concert venue? Is there somewhere you could point me for details etc?

Google is your friend......this is a picture of the room I have been to an event in. They are pushing the venue a bit more as Hong Kong changes. There is a strong Filipina membership, is in a great location and needs the support of events like this as it is a colonial building.
If you can do it a week earlier I have a perfect venue.

Actually, there's some replanning as we speak. Due to the "overwhelming interest" (1000 entries in the first 6 weeks) and fitting with some other factors we're going to extend the competition by a month. The final is now pencilled in for Sunday 21st January. Would your "perfect venue" be available then?

One problem with the Helena May is that it seems to be a women only place. One of the first two monthly winners is a guy, and so are lots of the people involved. Plus it all looks a bit "ornate" for a pop concert!
