| | | Its not that bad if you can get your company to forward or friends to bring over Amazon packages.
I just ended up buying a years worth of eye drops and bunch of over the counter medications and having them shipped to someone who is visiting from the US.

| | | Deoderant is actually not that expensive here, other toiletries seem around the same or cheaper. Good quality lingerie is definitely cheaper in western countries.
If you're at all particular about the kinds of clothes you like to wear, take yourself shopping before you come over. I thought everything would be cheaper over here, so didn't get a lot of things, but often the right quality is not available - clothes in HK tend to be either very cheap and low quality/synthetic or very expensive and designer (with some exceptions). There are few stores for good quality basics, or good quality quirky clothes at reasonable prices.

| | | Mobile phone I don't know if this applies to US cell phones, but we had to buy new mobile phones because ours (UK) were sim-locked. They're not as cheap as other eletricals.
Had we known we would have had them unlocked before we came (apparently this is illegal but there are places that do it)

Decent BBQ sauce
Mexican food stuff
Some candy
Hostess products. I mean, bring Twinkies--they'll never spoil.

| It is not illegal ... infact the EU has started frowning on the locked phone thing.
Lots of indie mobile shops will unlock your UK mobile phone for you while you're here.

| | | there is a bk at the peak.
there used to be arby's here about 10 years ago.
esque...yes, deo is cheap here but it is useless... i have tried every brand out there and NONE of it works worth a dam*. i always stock up on deo, shampoo( i like a brand only available in canada, hubby likes neutrogena...wayyyy expensive here) and close-up/aim/arm & hammer toothpaste.
in 11 years in HK i've bought toothpaste here once! i always buy 20 tubes when at home, and eveyone who visits me brings it too!
bring some of your favourite chocolate, if you can...the selection of candy bars here sucks... although i can find some of the ones i like at Gateway supermarket (more canadian products than US though, i believe) | | Tools | Search | | | | | Rate This Thread | | | All times are GMT +8.
