Red face Another Dependent Pass Question

Sorry people to bore you with another dependent pass question that you'd probably have answered. But really need the answers soon.

I need to apply for husband a dependent visa. He's got a job in Hk, thanks to a certain someone on this forum. Here are my questions.
1) What forms do we need to fill?
2) What documents do we need to bring?
3) How long does it take to process the dependent visa
4) Can we go to immigration without an appointment on Sat and how long would we need to wait there?

Thanks everyone!

Visa Forms

You need to fill in the form ID (E) 936 Parts A (2 pages), B, I & L

see link to download: http://www.immd.gov.hk/ehtml/id(e)936.htm

We did ours from the UK so I'm sorry I can't help with the rest. I filled in the sponsorship parts for my husband and sent a copy of my contract as proof of income (I think we also sent some bank statements). We also sent a copy of our marriage certificate, passport and photos. I can't remember anything else but if you go to the link there should be some 'guidance notes' you can download too. Good luck.

you can go without an appointment and just hand in your forms on 7th floor to windows 1 and 2. Best time to go is Friday afternoon though around 3ish. Usually no or very little queue.

Once your form is handed in you will need to wait to see an officer who will ask you to sign a form saying that you won't work while the visa is processed.

Even without a queue, I still had to wait about 30 mins to see an immigration officer. Once you have signed the release you are given an appointment to re-attend. Depending on your circumstances (whether you need to supply proof of your relationship etc) you may or may not get the visa at this point. I didn't have to and got the visa when I returned for my appointment 2 weeks later. take some money as it costs $160 (I think?).

Then you have 30 days to apply for an ID card (free).

You will need to take a photocopy of your ID card, plus marriage certificate (and birth certificates though not sure as I can't remember) and your passport with a photocopy of the page containing your HK entry visa (tourist in hubby's case?)and the main photo page. There is a photocopy station on the 7th in case you forget any of this - they charge about 1.3 dollars for a single copy.

I have to say the people who staff that floor (7th) are very helpful and friendly and I had no problems with them at all. They even rushed thorugh my kids applications in 1 hour as they took pity on us ;-)

not sure that immigration is open on a Saturday is it? I imagine if it is it will be busy?

So husband won't be to get his visa on that day itself? Only 2 weeks later? Can I collect it on his behalf as he'll be travelling back to Spore. By the way, why do we need birth certs? We have marriage cert and passports. Should that be enough? Sorry, can't seem to find enough info on the immigration website. Thanks!

Don't think we sent our birth certificates - think passports was enough.

I know you can get someone to collect your ID card if you sign a form to give them permission - not sure about visas

You can pick up your husbands visa on his behalf, all you need is a letter written and signed by him. Take as many documents as you can, it can save time later! The visa can take between 2 - 6 weeks to process.
