Border Crossing (HK -> China) Just a quick question. Currently, i'm living in HK and very soon i need to make a short trip to Shenzhen. And stay over night; this Friday, infact. Right now, all i have is my passport from my home country and an HKID. Could someone give me information regarding 'What does one need to cross the boarder at Lo Wu?' because, I don't think I have time to arrange for a visa. So, would it possible to show some idenity and paying an premium at the boarder control? To enter China? Thanks in advance.

What nationality passport do you hold? As far as I know they've suspended the Visa on arrival program for US citizens (and UK always had a problem..) China Visa for US Passport Holders

hello From when I last checked if you have a German passport you can apply on the boarder. Even if you are not you can get a tourist visa on ther same day of submission so if you did it this morning you would still be able to have the tourist visa on time for Friday.

Actually you can apply directly at the boarder in Lo Wu. The visa is only valid for 5 days and is only available to certain types of passports. Cost around $150-250, takes about 30mins - 1 hour to process. I think, China changed it's rules, so if your an american tourist, forget it.

That's frickin' hilarious. They don't seem to like the Yanks or Brits. They do seem to like the Krauts, though.

America went crazy on immigration control with finger print scans and photos, so China, along with many other nations, simply returned the favour. |
