Best club to join

I'll be moving to HK in the next couple of months. I've been told it's best to join some sort of a club as a way to seek refuge from work as well as to meet people. Can someone recommend which one I should look into? I am a single female - mid 30's.

Hi,

if you are looking for a recreational club, I only know the LRC (Ladies Recreational Club) where they have tennis, pool, etc. Originally it was for women only, but not anymore. It is on the HK Island side on Old Peking Rd., I belive you need a club member to sponsor you, in order to get in.

If you are looking for more of a social club, there is the AWA (American Women Assosiacion), they are involved in a lot charity programs, and they get together quite often. If you are not american, that does not matter, I went once as a guest and there are women from many different countries. They meet once a week on thursday mornings for a meet and greet, you can go as a guest and check it out.

Otherwise you should consider the the YWCA also on the island side, they offer many different courses, from excercise to art and languages.

Ballerina, I think you meant Old Peak Road rather than Old Peking Road...
another good way to meet people here is by dancing salsa. It's incredibly popular here, as is yoga...

the Hong Kong Yacht Club and the Foreign Correspondents Club (also open to people who don't work in the media) might be interesting. HKYC has great facilities, and the FCC has a good location in central with bar, restaurant etc. Would be a good escape after work....
