Compared to the Ipod the Cowon is better equipped (playback time 32! hours and supports lots of audio formats) and the Creative has a very good sound and a larger display. The ipod beats both in looks though. |

| I use the Creative Zen Vision:M. It kills the Ipod's screen (it displays far more colors; 5x as many as the video Ipods) and it's TV output is at double the Ipod's resolution. It also has better battery life, comes with the AC adapter (unlike the Ipod) and you don't need to convert your files to MP4; it plays many AVI and MPG files without any conversion needed. Unfortunately, the Creative is much thicker than the 30 or 60 GB Video Ipods. Creative also has much better customer support, and a lot of people think the Creative sounds better than the Ipod does. If you get on Ebay, there are a couple of people selling Creative Zens (not Zen Vision:Ms) that have been upgraded to 80 or 100 GB. I need one of those :P Last edited by jayinhongkong; 13-09-2006 at 05:59 PM. |

Like others have said the Creative ZEN line has been getting really good reviews, but it's not quite as sexy. And IMO you can't beat the iPod interface, which is really intuitive. I think if you value style over substance (that'd be me), then the iPod is your answer |

| The new Zen Vision W(idescreen) looks good if video is important for the reasons Jay gave - i.e. no need to convert your AVIs. But its quite pricey. Much as it pains me to say it, Microsoft's new Zune could be a good option for a switcher from the iPod given that it will support AAC as well as MP3. Video codec support is less impressive but similar to the iPod. I wouldn't use the music sharing over wi-fi, but you can bet some better use will be made of that technology over time. Wi-fi library/ playlist sync'ing would be nice as would internet radio/ RSS streaming. As would using it as a remote for a HTPC. For someone like me who wants a Photo Storage Device, the USB host feature of the Zune and Zen Vision is very attractive. Compare them to the cost of an Epson P2500/P4500 for example. The USB 1.1 speed of the iPod photo connector effectively is (a) appalling in today's age and (b) kind of rules it out if you shoot a lot of photos in a day. Having said all that, we'll probably be getting an iPod Shuffle for the gym and possibly an 8GB Black Nano before Xmas. The price of the 8GB Nano is superb for a flash based player - its cheaper than the latest 8GB Compact Flash cards on the market. Oh yeah, and I'm in the 'love the iPod mini look' camp |

| my car will be installed the iPod adaptor cable (HK$1000) to the JVC deck. I am thinking about changing my Nano (4GB) to the big 80GB iPod now.... I like the idea to carry all my music collection with me. |
