Tax issues for Singaporeans

Hi,

Any singaporeans here with experience on how IRAS (Singapore) deal with us oversea workers once we are out of Singapore ?

Apart from the regular earnings, how do they treat tax rebates for non-residence in singapore, particularly in terms of dividend rebate from the section 32 (or some other number) franking account.

sorry if it sounds alien to others..

I called up IRAS in Jan and was informed that all income earned outside of Singapore is tax exempt.

Hi freeier,

I called iras on tax issue as well. You are exempted from income tax if you are working overseas - since you are already paying hk tax. Normally you should be still paying ( if you opt for Giro) for 2005 income tax monthly till 2007 feb/mar.

You should inform iras on your status and zero or prorata 2006 tax should be paid from 2007 mar onwards on 2006 income tax; pending on when you come to hk in 2006.

Best to call them to clarify/declare.

ya i know about that. will figure out how to stop them from deducting.
technically u are suppose to show them a letter from your employer stating that u are working outside of Singapore then they will stop the Giro deduction.
