Exclamation Flying with pets 29celsius RULE!

Hi just got my tickets for May 14 I have been told by northwest airlines that if it is 29 degrees in hk when i check in the dogs can't board! Same goes for destination cities! As we are leaving hk for good there is no one to take them if this happens. They are not riding in the cabin as the flight is so long. Flat nose dogs 26 degree limit! So i'm a bit nervous about this. I wish I had known about this I would have left earlier. It works for cold temps 2! I considered cargo for them as they could leave earlier but the cost is 22 thousand hkdollars for 2 dogs!!! So wish me luck and be aware of the rule. Any guesses on the weather mid may???? Kathy

Kathy,

We're experiencing the same problem in reverse...we're coming to HK and we have a snub nosed dog!! uh oh...not to worry though, we found that Korean Airlines doesn't have these restrictions...though I'm not thrilled about taking a chance like that I'm banking on the fact that it won't be too much hotter than the listed temps...they'll be leaving Dallas early in the morning and getting into HK in the early evening.

Actually Korean might have some limits, but it's more like 95 F for all animals.

Good luck,

JM

I should have read that closer...we have to ship our dogs manifest cargo for them to be admitted in HK...I'm not sure if there's a temp restriction for Korean if they're travelling as excess baggage. The estimate I got for cargo shipping the dogs was ~800 USD (6232 HKD) per dog.

Question Hi ask lot's of Questions!

And ask the same questions to more than 1 person! Asia to Asia might not have such tight restrictions. Today more trouble they won't okay the ex-large kennel which my dog would be more comfortable in! waiting for new confirmation tomorrow. I would be concerned about your peking dogs arriving HK afternoon this season for their sake. could they get an earlier arrival? Cargo is far to expensive to the states. It is funny how u do everything to take them with you and seem to have problems from everywhere. The airline told me I will still need to confirm 1 day in advance on the weather thing. Kathy
