You can mail a check, or pay by phone or pay at the post office or transfer from the bank.

I got my first tax request after about two years, but then had to pay for three years - the last two and one year in advance (about three quarter of what could reasonably be expected for the next year).

The next year you pay the difference and again 3/4 of the tax to be expected.
