I know it is early days but what generally happens here for Melbourne Cup? Is it just the Aussies that celebrate or what about wider expat community and locals? Is there lots of corporate entertainment on this day?

Contact the Oz club and or commission and get yourself an invite.

If I remember correctly they show 2 races from Oz and then party till the evening when the 8 local races begin.
