Catch22

Hello there, I am a bit confused at the moment and was wondering if anyone could give me any advice.

I have been looking into getting a working visa for Hong Kong and it seems I am stuck in a catch 22. I can only apply for a working visa if there is a company who will sponsor me to work for them, however, most companies will only employ people who already have working visas.

Is there anyone out there who knows how good my chances are of finding work in Hong Kong and then being able to obtain a working visa. I am a qualified TEFL teacher with some teaching experience and a degree.

All ideas and suggestions would be gratefully appreciated.

Kathy

Have you applied through the NETS scheme?

hello

Many companies advertise that a person applying for a job has to have a valid employment visa but this is not totally correct. If you have a valid employment visa from a previous job that has not expired you cannot simply start working for another company. You will have to arrange 'change of sponsorship' and the new company will still have to apply for your employment visa and act as your sponsor.

Therefore in your search for a job in Hong Kong and a successful employment visa for a position, the company you are working for still has to be your sponsor.

The process can be slightly easier changing from one sponsor to another than a whole new application.
