Camping in HK

I've got a tent and was wondering if i can pitch it on the beaches of HK? Day only or is overnight allowed as well? Anybody have any experience with this?

Strictly you can only pitch tents at official campsites. But pragmatically wild camping isn't going to be a problem if it is somewhwre remote, you strike camp fairly early in the morning and you don't leave any traces. Pitching a tent and leaving it all day on, say, Repulse Bay beach is going to get you into trouble.

PDLM: i wasn't planning on pitching a tent in repulse bay but maybe a less crowded beach. oh well..thanks for the link.
