today i joined dicesix to do the power-shopping-tour in mitsukoshi, because i thought that some kind of cost control from my side wouldn't be that bad... but at the end i even bought more than dicesix we were pushing ourselves through the frenzy crowd and trying to avoid the vicinity of tables where people were digging for the discounted poly-stuff. it was for sure much more convenient on weekdays before.

but we didn't buy any housewares, although i was quite tempted to buy a really nice 30 pcs. WMF cutlery set. but as a good husband i luckily knew the lower price for that particular set of WMF cutlery in germany as well and we eventually did not buy it at the end (note to myself: make some space in the suitcase for the next germany trip). i think dicesix would have killed me otherwise, telling her not to buy so much, but spending several thousand HKDs on a cutlery set instead

we still made some good deals. i got for myself a new samsonite suitcase and trolley, which both have got ingenious compartments for suits inside. the new suitcase proved to be mastercard-"priceless", when i was paving the way for dicesix and me by pushing it totally relaxed in front of me, when the hectic crowd tried to move to ralph lauren, where we were just coming from... totally exhausted and after dinner, we will be opting for a calm evening, yet resting on our laurels for the shopping success for today. thanks a lot for the really great advice, honey! don't worry, there will be for sure tons of other sales periods after october

Wow!!! i envy you on your shopping trip. I could have imagined how crowded it was on a weekend. I was eyeing on a Samsonite backpack.

Yes, there will surely still be tons of sale, but a bye-bye sale is better

Coolgirl, i am ordering an oil painting from vietnam, US$65 each ang price, shipping for the 2 paintings i am getting is $35, baka pag 3 paintings konting dagdag lang, hati tayo if you want. Payment thru Western union, hati din tayo equally sa service charge. BUT if you can get it at Shenzhen, baka mas mura ito, kasi di US$ ang bilihan doon, though i don't know the paint quality, this one from Vietnam is subok na maganda ang paint na gamit nila.

Hi honey,

I'm not going to Shenzhen so I will buy with you - I want to buy "The Kiss", hehe...

Paki check magkano ang shipping, and fees sa Western Union. Wala silang bank account? mas mura ang TT, sobrang taga ang W.U.

Hi Coolgirl,

I'll check if i can TT, last time kasi sabi niya Western Union lang daw. I didn't know that they charge more.

It takes forever before she can reply, i think she still looks for an interpreter, pag sumagot naman, di mo maintindihan ang english, but i've made transaction with her twice, so nag-kakaintindihan naman kami

I'll let you know the total cost once i've finalized everything. The good thing about them is we don't pay not until ready to ship na ang painting. Have to remind you that it takes 1-2 months before they will ship it, gusto nila tuyo talaga ang paint para di masira. Kaya the earliest, pasko pa siguro ito dadating.

Another good thing sa kanila, they have lots of clients from Hk and Sg, so on one of my orders, she just sent it to them, tapos i paid the person half ng shipping fee, pwede na din, at least naka-tipid, kumita pa iyong nagdala. So hahanap daw siya ng customer papunta dito pag ready na, but no promises.

I've asked one painting shop at lowu bldg dati, super duper expensive, triple ata ang price, akala maloko niya ako. I know where the art place in shenzhen, sa dafen(?), but we don't know where it is.........calling dona.....

Internet price for an oil painting is around US$200, without shipping pa, mura na talaga itong Vietnam.

Hey folks, many of you will be flying to the Philippines, so this info might be relevant to you.

Connecta discovered that also other countries including the Philippines have increased their security measurements concerning hand carry after the blighted terror plot in London. (click link for more info)

What I find especially annoying is the authorities' advise "to proceed to the airport at least 4 hours prior to departure to ensure passengers don't miss their flights."

Naku dicesix, huwag kang maniwala, alam mo naman Philippines, gusto lang makisunod. I have guests last week, and they were there 2 1/2 hours before the flight, ok lang. My helper was there 4 hours before, her flight is 8am, she was excited so 3 a.m. she was already at the airport, and guess what? the counter opened at 5 a.m.

Hahaha! I guess first flights-out are outright exceptions to the 4-hour rule. I experienced the same thing, too -- was there before 5, and the counters only opened at 5. The immigration officers also report in only at 5. And, the gate lounges only open at 6.

But thanks for the info, dicesix. Now I'm glad for "club privileges" -- even if my ticket is just economy, I can check in at the business class where the line is always significantly shorter. :-)

hey guys... off topic, but i need your advice regarding the banking system here. which bank would you guys suggest for me (it's gonna be a new account)... and since most of you know the differences/similarities of banks here (vs. manila), maybe you have certain recommendations.
