Sorry, SOGO gives back 5% not 0.5%. BTW, Standard Chartered bank also offers a credit card to their staff for 3% rebate.

My understanding is that:

Every HK$1 you spend will earn you UNI$1
Every UNI$200 can be turned into HK$1 cash credit.

therefore

every HK$200 spend will get back HK$1

so the calculation is

1 / 200 * 100 = 0.5%

Please check.

OK, since I have got SOGO Credit Card, it is different with other UOB cards. For UOB card, you can earn UNI$ and turn them into cash (like Hangseng Bank Card). But for SOGO card, you can get 5% cash rebate from most of the shops in SOGO at your next bill. For example, if you purcahse $100 in PUMA shop, you will rebate $5 at your bill together with that $100. Therefore, you need to pay $95. Of course, that 5% cash rebate is not applied to all Sogo shops in its departmetn store. However, you can get that 5% rebate during discount, which is much attractive.

For all of these cards, shouldn't we also be taking the annual fee into consideration, to work out which would be the best value (for whatever expected level of spending we have)?

DBS Pay less is not that attractive, as most likely
just end up getting the lowest rebate level.

A good card should allow you to get rebate rate higher from the very beginning

for annual fee ?
cancel it before hand if they have to charge you annually
