don't forget Octopus can be used for shopping in many places, so the Octopus monthly bill is quite high, i can sure save a big amount/rebate for 12 months just i think i do not want the hassle if it is not a longer term deal

Still not understanding the benefits of the Compass Cards. All it seems is you get some free gifts.

just want to revive this old thread. Been having a look at the standard chartered AMEX card: http://www.standardchartered.com.hk/...amex_e.html#4x Seems if you spend over HK$3,000 a month (btw this is retail spend and doesn't include bills, etc) you get 1.6% cashback and if you spend below HK$3,000 a month you get 0.8% cashback. If you want AsiaMiles for your first HK$120,000 spend the conversion is HK$3 = 1AM. Good deal?

HSBC is offering me HK$3=1AM at the moment, but that seems to be a targeted 3 month promo... (It had their desired effect of swinging pretty much all my expenditure over from the Citibank card, so I guess it makes sense for them.)
